Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Otwell was born and bred on the country and blues music of the South, and started writing songs and performing as a young child. Growing up in church choirs, she fell in love with multi-voice harmony - something she still incorporates into her music. She began contributing original songs to theatre productions and other community productions.

Otwell attended Jefferson County Academy of Fine Arts and went on to earn a degree in Theatre and Creative Writing from the University of Alabama.

Post-college she formed her band, The Tin Cans, and began performing her own songs regularly. Her first album

"The Tin Cans" was recorded live at 2nd Row Studio and released in 2010. "Hell or High Water," her sophomore EP, was published in 2016.

Otwell took her musical talents to New York City in 2017 and performs there with her band frequently. She is also working on her third album, which was recorded and produced

in Nashville, TN.
